Louisville Metro Police say a man pulled out a handgun and fired it inside a Louisville pizzeria while several children were inside.
According to an arrest report, the incident took place on Friday, Aug. 5, just after 9 p.m. at the Spinelli’s Pizzeria at 614 Baxter Avenue, near Rogers Street.
Police say witnesses told them that 24-year-old Cody Curry fired one round inside the restaurant. Afterward, he was allegedly seen waving the gun and, “mumbling something like, ‘I’m just kidding, guys.'”
According to the arrest report, officers where dispatched to the pizzeria and began looking for the suspect. They eventually stopped Curry, who “matched the description,” of the suspect, according to the report. He allegedly had two handguns hidden under his shirt, admitted to firing a gun inside Spinelli’s, and told police he did not have a Concealed Carry Permit.
Police say Spinelli’s had been filled with people — including small children — at the time the gun was fired.
Curry was arrested and charged with first degree wanton endangerment and carrying a concealed deadly weapon without a permit. He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
