Kodi/XBMC is one of the coolest media player apps that is open source and cross platform (even on Android/IOS) and can do all sorts of things like stream video for various websites and put it where u can watch from your couch. You can get mobile apps to remote control your XBMC and use it like the old TIVOs to record video as well…. and watch LOTS of free TV!
XBMC Home Page
step 1 install XBMC or Kodi as it’s now called
step 2 install Fusion addon
step 3 install apps including add-on installer .. consider it the playstore/appstore for Kodi/XBMC
Step 4 Install the mobile remote apps…
u can control it with a webbrowser from any PC on your wifi once u set it up and then with the mobile apps u can browse thru your library and everything from the web or smartphone/tablet… and or even control your tablet with your smartphone! If the IP address is 192.168.1.1 then to access the web interface you would enter in any web browser http://192.168.1.1 and be able to control your Kodi box/stick..

Oh and the Amazon Fire makes a great Kodi/XBMC device… especially since it’s Android based…. the remote works waaay better than most Android boxes/sticks BUT u can’t use external storage (like USBs or SD cards) or non Amazon peripherals (like wireless keyboards and controllers)
there are other Android sticks and boxes that come preinstalled with Kodi/XBMC so just search Amazon
And there also OpenELEC which is a lightweight linux distribution that you can use as an alternate OS (operating system) on your system or from a USB flash drive to turn your PC/laptop/netbook into a HTPC (Home Theatre Personal Computer). I currently have my Netbook and a full HTPC loaded with OpenELEC and it’s really nice and easy to update to the latest version of OpenELEC.
