Here’s when you can expect racial minorities to be the majority in each state

Interesting numbers….

The percentage of racial and ethnic minorities — people who identify as Hispanic, black, Asian, or “other” — in New Mexico eclipsed the percentage of white residents way back in 1994. California, New Mexico, and Texas weren’t far behind.

And by the year 2060, a total of 22 states are projected to have what demographers call, somewhat oxymoronically, “majority-minority” populations. Continue reading

Louisiana Man, Armando Frank, Lost His Life Via a Chokehold for Asking ‘Reasonable Questions’ About Warrant

Armando Frank

A routine arrest proved fatal for a Louisiana man who officers wrestled off a tractor and choked while serving an outstanding warrant last year in an incident experts say constitutes police excessive force.

Footage of the incident, obtained by The Advocate, shows officers grow visibly frustrated with 44-year-old Armando Frank, who refused to hop down from a Walmart tractor when police arrived to serve a warrant for his arrest in October 2017. Frank’s arrest reportedly stemmed from minor charges picked up from a previous dispute with neighbors. Continue reading

Katrina’s Hidden Race War: In Aftermath of Storm, White Vigilante Groups Shot 11 African Americans in New Orleans

I heard about this but this is the story from a survivor from back in 2008.

The Nation magazine exposes how white vigilante groups patrolled the streets of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, shooting at least eleven African American men. Local police have never conducted investigations into the shootings. We speak to reporter A.C. Thompson and New Orleans resident Donnell Herrington, who nearly died after being shot by a white vigilante.

NOPD Shoots Black Man In the Head, Doesn’t Report Incident For 2 Days

Da fuq???

While most of the nation’s attention has been focused on the police shooting deaths of unarmed African Americans around the country — most notably Michael Brown and Ezell Ford — one story managed to slip under the media’s radar. News of a young African-American man shot in the head by a New Orleans police officer on Monday managed to go unreported because the police department never released details about the shooting.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Armand Bennett, was shot in the head Monday during a traffic stop with a New Orleans police officer. He has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a local hospital. Armand’s attorney Nandi Campbell told UPTOWN via email, “My client was shot in the head and staples were required to close the wound.”

He was with his brother in a parked car, near the Tall Timbers subdivision, when officers confronted them with their guns drawn. Tall Timbers is a fairly affluent neighborhood, where Armand’s brother is a resident. The brother reported that a female officer fired two shots at them.
