Talib Kweli And Planet Asia Talk Cali Agents, Wu, Hieroglyphics, Alchemy, 5% Nation

This should be good…

On this episode of People’s Party, Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh sit down with longtime friend, collaborator, and legendary West Coast lyricist — Planet Asia. Throughout the interview, we get profound insight into numerous topics including PA’s upbringing in Fresno, CA, linking up with Rasco to form their group Cali Agents, his desire to leave a legacy as an emcee staying true to form throughout his career, and carving out his niche in the game as a West Coast lyricist cut from the same cloth as East Coast acts like The Wu-Tang Clan. Yep, the deep hip-hop heads are gonna eat this up. Continue reading

The Alchemist Feat. Blu, Killa Kali, Big Twins

After unearthing the OG version of ScHoolboy Q’s “Hoover Street” and reuniting MC Eiht and Spice One on “Any Means,” The Alchemist is back with another Craft Singles cut alongside more of his West Coast homies. Featuring a dreamy, drum-knocking beat from A-L-C, “Palisades” finds Blu, Killa Kali and Planet Asia trading verses, with Big Twins (aka Twin Gambino) adding some Queensbridge flavor into the mix.

Planet Asia & DJ Concept – The Festival (feat. Sean Price & DJ Devastate)

Dopeness…. RIP Sean P

Armed with bully raps, huge production, and a long list of quotables, Planet Asia and DJ Concept deliver their latest leak, “The Festival,” featuring DJ Devastate and the late Sean Price.

The ‘Seventy Nine’ slapper bursts out of the gate with a verse from P that’ll remind you just how gifted he was as an emcee. His bravado was weighted by an amazing sense of humor, which he displays with bars like, “Ni**as said they ready to rob but they’re car in park/ Bullsh*ttin’/ Never excellin’, sellin’ wolf tickets.” It’s only right that Planet Asia follows suit, dishing out verbal darts like, “Ni**as mad ‘cause the b*tches on us/ We in and out the Ubers with the pistols on us.”

Making the cipher complete is DJ Devastate, who uses his turntables to blend samples of Defari and the Alkaholiks with original lines from Planet Asia. It all makes for a massive track primed for festivals and tour shows alike, as P watches over with his trademark smirk.

“The Festival” is now available for download off the iTunes’ album pre-order of ‘Seventy Nine.’ The album drops March 25th and will be available for download through all major digital retailers, and can be purchased on CD as well as limited-edition gold vinyl, via Coalmine Records.
