Why I Can’t Celebrate Kwanzaa

This is pretty much how I feel… even though I ain’t much for celebrations and all that…. we can party when the war is won…

I don’t do Kwanzaa. I just don’t. I never have, and the very thought of it evokes some difficult memories and feelings for me.

It’s not the holiday’s religious trappings or its Afro-syncretic fusion of Jewish menorahs, Swahili words, Kemetic, Christian and other rituals. I understand people do have a perfect human right to adopt or make up the cultural and religious practices that suit them. Rastafarianism, Voudon, Santería, and Candomblé all borrow from multiple traditions, as does Islam from Judaism and Christianity, and Christianity from Judaism, Greek and Roman sources, and so on. So I have no quarrel whatsoever with those who celebrate and find value in Kwanzaa.

Homan Square Black Site Allegation: Cops Used Heroin to Force Confessions

Makes you wonder how someone dies “accidently” of a heroin overdose while in police custody..

Chicago, Ill. – New allegations have surfaced involving the alleged black site at Homan Square. A man named Jose Gonzales claims that police threatened to injected him with heroin to force him to talk, while illegally being detained and interrogated in the facility.

According to a report by The Fifth Column News:

It began the way most of the incidents involving Homan Square do. A no-knock raid sent police storming into his house. They wore no uniforms and arrived in an unmarked minivan. They said they had a warrant, but wouldn’t let him see it. His pregnant cousin was pushed to the ground, his grandmother and the kids in the house had automatic weapons shoved in their faces, and Jose was taken away. They searched the home and found no drugs.

4 More Victims Come Forward From Chicago Secret Prison, Man Tortured Over Weed

Damn shame…. but I’m not surprised one bit…

Four more victims of incarceration at Chicago’s Guantanamo Bay style secret detention/torture center, known as Homan Square, have come out and spoken to The Guardian about their experience being essentially treated like cattle. They are four black males, Brock Terry, Kory Wright, Deandre Hutcherson and David Smith.

Three of them were held in 2006, and one in 2011.

They were kicked in the genitals while helpless and bound, put in ‘kennels for humans’, and they heard the bloodcurdling screams of other helpless victims while they thought they would never see the light of day again.

One man named Brock Terry was caught with five pounds of cannabis, and ended up being shackled to the “little circular thing behind the bench”, arms spread open, being fed only twice in 3 days. The Chicago Police are known for turning up the temperature in the facility extremely high, and then depriving victims of water while they are tied up, arms extended.

“I sat in that place for three days, man – with no talking, no calls to nobody,” Terry said. “They call police stations, I’m not there, I’m not there.”
