The Secret History Of Flooding Black Towns To Make Lakes
Funny this topic been popping up of late…
The term “sundown town” is familiar to many African Americans.
These were towns across the United States where black Americans knew they weren’t welcome after dark.
A new ProPublica Illinois story examines the racist legacy of one such town in Illinois called Anna.
Below, a Q&A with ProPublica Illinois reporter Logan Jaffe. Continue reading
YT always taking ish and claiming they’re self-made…FOH
Last week during the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee hearing about H.R. 40 and reparations, economist, author, political commentator and former president of Bennett College Julianne Malveaux reminded America of the many ways its dark history of racial violence against Black people continues to affect the group’s future. Continue reading
It’s a reason gangs started in Chicago….
On Sunday, the highly-anticipated HBO series Watchmen set the internet ablaze with America’s shocked reactions to a little-known incident frequently called the Tulsa Race Riots. The bombing of Black Wall Street is common knowledge to a large percentage of black folks (we’ve written about it at least 20 times, including here, here and here), but apparently it’s news to a lot of people who prefer a whitewashed, sanitized version of American history. Continue reading
After all the hubbub about the Watchmen series premiere and it’s depiction of the Tulsa Black Wall Street Massacre, I figured folks needed to know it and Rosewood were not isolated events….
Atlanta Race Riot (1906)
When the Civil War ended, African-Americans in Atlanta began entering the realm of politics, establishing businesses and gaining notoriety as a social class. Increasing tensions between Black wage-workers and the white elite began to grow and ill-feelings were further exacerbated when Blacks gained more civil rights, including the right to vote. This is just one example of YT not wanting a level playing field because they know we will take it all back in spades. They remember when we stood on their backs like they do us currently…. and then act as if we are the inferior ones…
To the editor: Many sincere white Americans have raised the question of why African Americans have failed to become as successful as other people of color, especially recent immigrants to United States. The article on lynchings sheds some light on the subject.
The story of the murder of Elmore Bolling, a successful black businessman, by his jealous white neighbor in Alabama in 1949 was just a glimpse into a pattern of racist violence that terrorized African Americans for generations. On a broader scale, during the Jim Crow era white Americans destroyed prosperous black businesses in many communities. Continue reading

One of the most glaring examples of racism in this country is the corrupt criminal justice system. White people can many times commit violent crimes with little to no punishment, especially compared to their Black counterparts. This year alone, people have been mortified after seeing freedom secured by the likes of former Pittsburgh police officer Michael Rosfeld, who killed 17-year-old Antwon Rose by shooting him in the back, and Zoe Reardon, the 18-year-old who killed three people with her car, including a three-month-old baby. Now, Shane Piche, 26, who admitted to raping a 14-year-old girl, will also not serve a milli-second in prison despite being convicted for the heinous crime. Continue reading
Ain’t nuttin changed… Orangina just made these YTs more bold….
The body of a black man was found hanging from a tree yesterday two weeks after he was reported missing.
He has been identified as Otis James Byrd by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the discovery prompted authorities to determine whether he was a victim of a hate crime. Continue reading
They kill us and we supposed to turn the other cheek? Yeah OK…
Charlie Wilson, Cleveland Larkin, and Willustus “Lusk” Holley were walking down a dirt road in rural Slocum, Texas when they were blindsided by a mob of armed white men. On their way to tend to family livestock on July 29, 1910, the three black teenagers became the first casualties of what would turn out to be a shameful massacre — with groups of white Texans going from road to road, house to house, shooting black citizens. Wilson and Holley survived the attack, but Larkin succumbed to the injuries. Continue reading
What do u expect from savages? Who know their time is coming to an end?
Welcome to Donald Trump’s America. Say what you want, but when the U.S. president defends avowed white supremacists, one can’t be surprised when bullying takes on a decidedly racist tone, as it did with an 8-year-old biracial boy who was hanged from a tree in the year 2017. The climate has been set. Continue reading
